Joerg Alexander Reichardt
Joerg Reichardt has been working as a freelance photographer since the early eighties. After studying art in Basel, Switzerland, he worked on various theatre and film productions before devoting himself exclusively to fashion photography, first in Berlin, then in Paris, Milan and New York. After moving back to Berlin from New York in 2000, he began working mainly for advertising agencies.
The majority of Reichardt’s current work is based in Havana. Seeing the poverty in which most people live helped him change his perspective and he began to see beyond the picturesque scenes. Yet he’s not a documentarist; rather, he’s a wanderer, a flâneur, a poet who expresses himself through his images. The pleasures of the unknown, the presence, and the absence.
A selection of his clients includes international brands, institutions and agencies: Nikon, Absolut Vodka, Deutsche Bahn, Bank Austria, Raiffeisen Bank, Commerzbank, Sparkasse, Deutsche Grammophon, Puma, Adidas, Joop!, Toni Gard, Mondo Uomo, Kunstpalast Düsseldorf, Komische Oper Berlin, Residenztheater München, Schaubühne Berlin, Berliner Philharmonie, Publicis Paris, TBWA Paris, Jung von Matt and Ogilvy&Mather.
