Cuba | State of Play
The collection shows a nation and its people in the context of an eternal crisis, in the tension of the daily political and social struggle for survival.
My first step towards a real encounter with the city and its people, to slowly understand the existential poverty that surrounded me so painterly and in which I moved like a stranger; – alien, alone, touched.
The removal of colour is an enrichment for photography, because it makes the structure visible. In a sense, it is a look behind the scenes. The social aspect is emphasised and the view is opened because it invites the viewer to add to the picture and thus interpret it.
